Health Cluster Overview

Planetary Health is a solutions-oriented, multi-dimensional health approach focused on analysing and addressing the impacts of human disruptions to Earth’s natural systems on human health and all life on Earth. The cluster, launched on July 2nd, 2024 comprises GoGreen Next, SPRINGS, TULIP, MOSAIC and PLANET4HEALTH. These projects will work collectively to promote evidence-based policy to support global Planetary Health.

Cluster Activities

The Planetary Health Cluster is active from 1 January 2024 until June 2028, and has five key goals:

One

Promote and disseminate research on environmental degradation and health from a planetary health perspective.

Two

Raise awareness and inform on health impacts of a degraded environment, costs and benefits of action and inaction.

Three

Maximise communication and dissemination of results through each project’s networks.

Four

Contribute to evidence-based decision-making and stronger EU and global policies.

Five

Build capacity around climate change and health research.

The Planetary Health Cluster meets in the Netherlands and participates in PHAM 2025

Last week, the coordination board of the Planetary Health Cluster (PHC) met in Amsterdam for their annual meeting, hosted at Amsterdam UMC. The group gathered to review ongoing work, plan future activities, and continue shaping a shared understanding of what planetary health means for their network.

The SPRINGS project contributes to this effort by addressing the impacts of climate change on waterborne diarrheal diseases, ensuring that health remains central to adaptation strategies.
